Cosmetic issues — act fast

Cosmetic defects should be reported within 48 hours or 160 km (100 miles) — open a service request in the Tesla app as soon as you spot anything.

Match the VIN on the windshield, Tesla app, and your purchase docs
Insurance is active and already tied to this VIN for pickup day
Payment, financing, or lease paperwork is signed and ready

Check paint and clearcoat in daylight for dust nibs, heavy orange peel, or scratches
Frunk, doors, and hatch gaps look even and close cleanly
Door handles and the charge-port door sit flush with the body
Glass edges and weather seals: chips, cracks, or rubber that isn’t seated
Headlamps and taillamps for heavy water pooling (light haze can be normal)
Wheels and tires for curb rash, cuts, or obvious factory marks

Seats, stitching, and headliner for marks or loose seams
Rear seat cushions feel locked — lift gently to confirm
Main touchscreen: scan for dead pixels
Ambient light strips line up cleanly across the dash and doors
If equipped, rear display for lag or ghosting

Phone key: approach unlock and walk-away lock both work
Both key cards work on the B-pillar and the console reader
Run the fader and balance — no obvious clipping or silent speakers
USB-C ports and wireless phone pads actually charge a device

Heat and A/C at max — listen for odd thumps or whistling
Open and close each door a few times — motion and seal feel right

Charge port opens from the app, the screen, and the button — note the indicator light colors
Public-charging adapter (J1772) is in the bag if your Canadian delivery includes it
Tow eye / recovery hook is in the frunk or cargo well
Sentry / dashcam USB is seated in the glovebox (format it if you plan to use it)
Mobile connector / included charge cable is present and starts a charge
